Model History: (I have no idea how accurate this is but there is some truth). The fascinating backstory of the KMZ K-750 Military Motorcycle. In 1939, a groundbreaking agreement between the Soviet Union and Germany paved the way for the production of the BMW R-71 motorcycle in Moscow. Under this licensing arrangement, the design, tooling, and training were provided by BMW.
However, with the outbreak of hostilities, the manufacturing operations were relocated to ensure their safety. The main factories were moved to Irbit (IMZ) in Siberia and Gorky (GMZ), where motorcycles and sidecars were produced. Sidecars were exclusively manufactured in Gorky.
The original M-71 model underwent modifications and became the M-72, which was produced from 1942 to 1955 at IMZ in Irbit. In 1952, parts were sent to the KMZ factory in Kiev, Ukraine, to establish their own production line. The M-72-N, assembled in Kiev from 1952 to 1956, combined leftover parts with locally produced components and became available for public sale in 1951.
In 1957, the IMZ plant was sold to the People's Republic of China (PRC), and the production line for the M-72 was relocated there in 1959. Production continued until 1969. A later iteration known as the Chang Jiang CJ-750 was produced in China until the mid-1980s.
Don't let this piece of history pass you by. Act now and make the KMZ K-750 Military Motorcycle your own.
