The Harley-Davidson Aermacchi 350 was the result of a collaboration between Harley-Davidson and the Italian manufacturer Aermacchi. In the 1960s, Harley-Davidson sought to expand its model range beyond the large V-twin motorcycles it was known for. It acquired a 50% stake in Aermacchi, which produced a range of small-displacement motorcycles.
The Aermacchi 350 was introduced in the late 1960s and early 1970s under various model names, including the Sprint, SS, and SST. It featured a 350cc single-cylinder engine with a horizontal layout and a single overhead camshaft. This engine produced around 30 horsepower and offered a good balance of performance and efficiency.
The Aermacchi 350 models were known for their nimble handling and light weight, making them popular among urban riders and beginners. They also had a distinctive styling, with features like the "Coke bottle" handlebars, two silencers for visual balance, and classic Harley-Davidson badging.
Production of the Aermacchi 350 ceased in the mid-1970s, but they remain a unique part of Harley-Davidson's history, representing a time when the company ventured into the realm of smaller motorcycles. Today, these models are considered collectibles, especially among enthusiasts of classic motorcycles and Harley-Davidson memorabilia.
This particular machine is unusually a UK model being one of 13 that were supplied as official UK bikes. The bike is generally in very original condition and shows only a little ageing here and there.
